Nigeria

Nigeria, an African country on the Gulf of Guinea, has many natural landmarks and wildlife reserves. Protected areas such as Cross River National Park and Yankari National Park have waterfalls, dense rainforest, savanna, and rare primate habitats. One of the most recognizable sites is Zuma Rock, a 725m-tall monolith outside the capital of Abuja that’s pictured on the national currency.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1/2

Depart JFK, New York City for Lagos, Nigeria. Arrive to Lagos, Nigeria Murtala Muhammed Airport. We Will then head to Osogbo, Nigeria and check in at the LAIM Hotel.

Day 3

We will visit the city of Ile Ife, Nigeria. Ile Ife is said to be the origin of humanity. We will visit the Ooni’s Palace, Akire Temple and other historic sites in Ile Ife.

Day 4

We will visit the Kingdom of Ororuwo, Nigeria. We will spend time with Oba of Ororuwo, Olororuwo of Ororuwo, Oba Qamorudeen Adeyemi Bello Adeyanju, and visit historic landmarks throughout the city.

Day 5

We will visit historic sites in Osogbo. Osun Grove, Susanne Wenger house, and the Ataoja of Osogbo’s Palace to name a few. We will then start our IFA divinations and readings.

Day 6

We will attend the Osun Osogbo Festival. The festival of Osun-Osgobo, which takes place every year in Osogbo, Nigeria, celebrating the goddess of fertility, Osun. The festival renews the contract between humans and the divine: Osun offers grace to the community; in return, it vows to honor her Sacred Grove.

Day 7

We will depart from Osogbo and head to Lagos. Upon arriving in Lagos, we will check into Hotel Maison Fahrenheit. After check in, we will visit one of the largest art galleries in Africa, Nike Art Gallery and afterwards enjoy the sunset at Landmark Beach.

Day 8

Today will be the real estate portion of the tour. Viewings will be arranged of available real estate opportunities for purchase in Lagos.  Afterwards, we will shop at Balogun Market, one of the largest markets in West Africa.

Day 9

Everyone who signed up for the MyRootsinAfrica.com activity, today you will plant your trees. Afterwards, we will head to the Kalakuta. The Kalakuta is the former residence of the late musician Fela Kuti, which has recently been converted into a museum, restaurant, and boutique hotel.

Day 10

Today we will check out of Maison Fahrenheit and head to the aiport.
